ESI Manufacturing Village
Port Harcourt, Nigeria
11.04 were introduced to Nigeria by a London client Chico Udeh. 11.04 were first asked to design a one-off factory for poor rural communities. The factory would provide the charity with a base for education, training and employment opportunities, including a factory shop and trade showroom. Chris Roche was asked to present the design at a charity fundraising dinner in Port Harcourt and was shocked to witness a benefactor volunteer to pay the entire £2,000,000 required to build the first factory. This led to 2 further factories being planned for the same sight offering a range of opportunities and trading in local arts and crafts based products as well as manufacturing products normally imported.
